Working principle
The motor Soft Starter (soft starter) is a novel motor control device that integrates the motor soft start, soft stop, light load energy saving and a variety of protection functions. It is called soft starter abroad. The soft starter uses three opposite parallel thyristors as a voltage regulator to connect it between the power supply and the motor stator. This circuit such as three-phase full control bridge rectifier circuit. When the soft starter is used to start the motor, the output voltage of the thyristor gradually increases, and the motor gradually accelerates until the thyristor is fully switched on, and the motor works on the mechanical characteristics of the rated voltage to achieve smooth starting, reduce the starting current, and avoid starting overcurrent trip. When the motor reaches the rated revolution, the start process is over, and the soft starter automatically replaces the thyristor that has completed the task with a bypass contactor to provide rated voltage for the normal operation of the motor, so as to reduce the thermal loss of the thyristor, extend the service life of the soft starter, improve its work efficiency, and avoid harmonic pollution in the power grid. The soft starter also provides the soft stop function at the same time, the soft stop is the opposite of the soft start process, the voltage is gradually reduced, the revolution is gradually reduced to zero, and the torque impact caused by the free stop is avoided.
Routine maintenance
Usually pay attention to check the environmental conditions of the soft starter to prevent operation in excess of its permitted environmental conditions. Pay attention to check whether there are objects around the soft starter that hinder its ventilation and heat dissipation, and ensure that there is enough space around the soft starter (greater than 150mm).
Regularly check whether the wiring terminals are loose, and whether the components in the cabinet are overheating, discoloration, scorch odor and other abnormal phenomena.
Clean the dust regularly, so as not to affect the heat dissipation, prevent the thyristor from being damaged due to high temperature rise, and also avoid the leakage and short circuit accidents caused by dust accumulation.

Usually pay attention to observe the operation of the fan, once it is found that the fan speed is slow or abnormal, it should be repaired in time (such as removing oil dirt, dust, adding lubricating oil, replacing damaged or deteriorated capacitors). The damaged fan should be replaced in time. If you use a soft starter without a fan, you will damage the thyristor.
If the soft starter is used in a humid environment or easy to condensation, it should be often dried with an infrared bulb or a hair dryer to drive away moisture to avoid leakage or short circuit accidents.
